We know that “life happens”, and when it does, you need our experts
to guide you back to your North. Our associates are psycho-emotional
wellness advisors who show up when you need us, and leave you more
empowered to take on the happenings of life.

According to the National Center for Emotional Wellness, the term
refers to an awareness, understanding, and acceptance of your
emotions, and your ability to manage effectively through challenges
and change. When you’re tuned into your feelings, then you can more
easily become aware of your bodily sensations and associated
symptoms. Remaining in the present moment and adhering to a sense
of mindfulness, without looking back too much into the past or the
future, is also very important for your emotional well-being.
Sessions at G.I.W.A. Consultancy are completely confidential. We will
not divulge to your employer, parents, spouse or any other person
what you reveal in session without your explicit and written consent
and under specific circumstances.
Our solutions are flexible and tailored to the specific needs and
schedules of our clients. Our objective is to facilitate your psycho-
emotional reset, refocus and recharge.

The first session is called an Intake Interview. You will be asked to
complete and sign an informed consent online, prior to this first
appointment. You can expect to meet with a therapist for 40-50
minutes, at which time the therapist will gather some additional
information regarding the main concern for coming in. You will then
discuss next steps, including a customizable therapeutic plan (care
plan), which may include scheduling a follow up session and/or goal-
focused therapy, joining a wellness workshop or starting group
therapy.

Our services are flexible and customized to each client’s needs. Even
so, we are not able to provide an explicit / specific session limit ahead
of time. Session frequency and duration vary depending on the needs
of the client.

Sometimes it might not be clear where to start or what to talk about.
Before starting therapy, you might have certain ideas or expectations
for how to be in therapy. Below are a few things that might be helpful
to get the most out of your therapy:

  • Don’t pretend to be okay. It’s okay to talk about things that feel
    embarrassing or scary
  • Regularly attend your sessions and take an active part in them
  • Work collaboratively with your counselor and be willing to explore
new behaviors both within and outside the sessions
  • Be open and honest with your counselor about how the sessions are
going for you, particularly if you don’t think you’re being helped
  • Ask questions. If your therapist is talking about something you do
not understand, or you feel uncertain about a particular suggestion,
    ask questions.
